Global Choreographers

This 10 week online residency program is aimed at developing the choreographic practices for aspiring body-based artists.  We will share creative strategies and tools that will assist in broadening the student’s artistic choices, insight, and research while engaging in art production. These strategies will include but are not limited to developing dance practices, movement research, community creation, clarifying artistic values, and setting up structure systems that will bring choreographic to life. This unique online environment will bring together students from different parts of the world; and will create an opportunity to showcase participants' final works to a new international audience. In this way we will broaden the artistic reach of the individual artist’s work. We encourage new connections and collaborations that will in time stimulate cross-cultural exchange and the creation of exciting relevant artwork.

The courses are taught online, in English.

We welcome applications from all movement practitioners from different training backgrounds, dance genres, and cultures; underlying the importance of cultural identity and personal journey. We invite critical engagement with hierarchical structures and systems of dance and the general art world, as well as defining new ideas and ways of execution of choreography. Furthermore, we value curious, experimental practices that challenge traditional modes while developing and discovering exciting new avenues of creativity.

Each week will consist of two 3-hour sessions. The sessions will be divided into weekly topics/themes, presentations by facilitators, and class showings by students.
